A communications strategist at my core, I get results by delivering the right messages to the right audiences at the right time. For 20 years I've managed the perception of companies, institutions and issues on the agency side and in-house. I know from experience that as the responsibilities placed on corporate comms teams continue to evolve, they need resources with business acumen in addition to broad functional expertise.
After graduating from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, my passion for public affairs led me to Washington, D.C., where I took on roles of increasing responsibility at international communications firm Fleishman-Hillard. After agency leadership roles in Chicago and Minneapolis I jumped at the chance for an in-house position at Target HQ. National media relations, crisis communications and internal campaigns designed to engage diverse employee populations on sensitive issues taught me the importance of tailored — and flawless — stakeholder communications.
My experience includes leading the internal and external communications functions at Sprouts Farmers Market and Republic Services. I've written for and presented to Boards of Directors as well as audiences of thousands. I can navigate complicated corporate organizations and build consensus among C-suite leaders and am a collaborative partner willing to roll up my sleeves. Most of all, I'm a lifelong news junkie who absolutely loves to write. And I believe every word tells a story.
